Q. Who can apply for free and reduced meals?
A. Anyone may apply for free and reduced meals. However, if you have a student in another school system (I.E. Cumberland County Schools) you must complete another application for that school district as well. You will notice that applications are different for each district.

Q. When should I fill out a free and reduced meal application?
A. Applications are available 30 days prior to the opening of school and may be completed any time after that. Applications are available at the Child Nutrition Office and at your student's school.

Q. How often do I need to complete an application for free and reduced meals?
spacer A. A new application must be completed each school year as early as possible.

Q. Do I fill out a separate application for each of my students?
A. No, one application is completed for each household. When completing the application be sure to add all family members.

Q. Where do I turn in my application for free and reduced meals?
A. Applications for free and reduced meals should be turned into your student's school secretary or the cafeteria cash clerk.

Q. Will my students need lunch money for the first day of school?
A. Yes, students will need lunch money for each day of school until you are notified of their status in the free and reduced meal program. Free or reduced meals status is effective on the date of acceptance into the program. Meals charged/purchased prior to acceptance will not be credited to the free and reduced meals program.

Q. How long will it take for a response to my application for free and reduced meals?
A. A response to your application should take no more than 10 days at the beginning of the school year. If you have not received a response in that time, please call the Child Nutrition Office at (910) 907-0271.
